Meet Your Counsellor
My name is Jocelyn Kehler. I have been working as a counsellor in Brandon, MB since 2012.
I use an Eclectic approach to counselling, employing strategies from various theoretical approaches such as Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Reality Therapy, & Person Centred Therapy.
I have lived in Brandon for the last 30 years with my family and have been actively involved in community life.
Qualifications
I have a Master of Education from Brandon University, specializing in Guidance & Counselling.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a Registered Nurse for over 12 years (in both Winnipeg and Brandon), in a variety of clinical areas including Orthopedics, Home Health Care, Palliative Care and Neurological and Orthopedic Rehab.
Professional Affiliation/Certification
I am a Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), possessing a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation.
I am bound by the CCPA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
I remain current in my counselling skills, knowledge and competencies, by regularly attending professional workshops, conferences and skills training courses.
Community Involvement
I volunteered with Westman Hospice Association for 8 years and am a past Board member.
I facilitated a Bereavement Peer Support Group in Brandon.
I volunteered with the Brandon School Division for 20 years.
Over the past 30 years, I have also been actively involved in a variety of parish ministries
at St. Augustine Church in Brandon, Manitoba.
